Political Video Editor
Full Remote
Think Big is a fast-moving creative agency specializing in political, public-affairs, advocacy, and documentary-style storytelling. We produce high-impact video content ranging from congressional ads to brand documentaries, social explainers, event coverage, and stories for global tech and commerce clients.
The Role
We’re hiring a full-time Video Editor to own post-production on our highest-visibility work. This is a craft role for someone whose edit is the finished product: you cut with intent, and you build the on-screen text and motion that make a political ad actually land. In our world the cut and the graphics aren’t separate skills — the kinetic type, lower thirds, data callouts, and quote cards are the spot. We need both, at a high level, in the same person. This role helps relieve editor bandwidth across the team and reports to the Creative Director. You’ll work from briefs on fast political timelines, so speed, polish, and judgment under deadline matter as much as raw craft.
Editing (the core)
-
Cut a wide range of content from brief to final: political and issue-advocacy spots, social cutdowns, testimonials, documentary sequences, event recaps, and brand pieces
-
Shape story, pacing, and emotional arc — not just assemble clips — across :15, :30, :60, and long-form formats
-
Assemble from mixed sources: team-shot footage, stock, and AI-generated material, cut together so the seams don’t show • Work efficiently within fast-turn political timelines (24–72 hour turnarounds when the moment demands it)
-
Build clean timelines, organized bins, and proxies that follow agency naming and storage standards so any editor can pick up your project
Motion graphics & text design (equally core)
-
Design and animate the on-screen language of a political ad: kinetic typography, lower thirds, headlines, quote cards, stat and data callouts, source citations, and end cards
-
Build clean, legible, broadcast-safe text layouts that read instantly on a muted phone screen and hold up at TV scale
-
Create and maintain reusable motion templates and title systems so look stays consistent and turnarounds get faster
-
Treat typography as craft — hierarchy, kerning, timing, and on-brand styling — because in political media the text is the message
Finishing & delivery
-
Handle audio mixing, color correction, and sound design at a strong professional level
-
Deliver final exports and confirm all broadcast, digital, and CTV specs are correct before anything ships
-
Collaborate with the Creative Director, designers, and producers to align on tone and visual approach — and to escalate the most complex post work
Qualifications
-
5+ years editing in a professional environment — political, public-affairs, advocacy, agency, news, or documentary work
-
Elite Adobe Premiere Pro skills, plus genuinely strong After Effects — you can design and animate text and graphics, not just drop in someone else’s template
-
A real eye for type and motion: clean hierarchy, confident timing, and text design that elevates a spot instead of cluttering it
-
A reel that proves both halves — sharp storytelling cuts and high-craft motion/text design • Calm and fast under deadline; comfortable shifting priorities as political timelines move
-
Fluent with mixed footage workflows, including stock and AI-generated assets used as real tools
-
Discretion handling topical and politically sensitive content with professionalism and sound judgment
-
Thrives in a remote-first team with high expectations and high trust
NICE-TO-HAVES
-
Prior political, campaign, or public-affairs editing experience
-
Color grading (DaVinci Resolve or Lumetri) or sound design beyond the basics
-
Experience cutting for broadcast/CTV delivery and meeting station specs
-
Comfort with AI-assisted post tools and a habit of testing new ones
-
Experience working within Asana and Frame.io
