Director, Public Affairs
Remote (U.S.) | Washington, D.C. preferred
Position Overview
We are seeking a high-performing campaign operator to lead and execute complex public affairs and advocacy campaigns across digital, paid media, and video production.
This is not a traditional communications role. This position requires someone who can own outcomes end-to-end, from strategy through execution, across multiple clients in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. You should be comfortable managing a high volume of concurrent work, with tight and shifting deadlines, while maintaining quality and precision.
What You’ll Own
-
Lead multi-channel advocacy campaigns (paid media, digital, video, grassroots activation)
-
Build and manage paid media strategies (Meta, programmatic, Google Search, LinkedIn, etc.)
-
Translate policy and regulatory issues into clear, persuasive campaign narratives
-
Oversee video production workflows (pre-production, on-site shoots, post-production coordination)
-
Manage client relationships with a high level of ownership and accountability
-
Drive campaign performance, optimization, and reporting tied to outcomes—not just outputs
-
Develop high-quality written deliverables including emails, website content, fact sheets, and client-facing reports
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and coordinate with external vendors to ensure seamless execution
-
Maintain tight control over timelines, deliverables, and quality
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
-
4–6+ years in public affairs, political campaigns, advocacy, or agency environments
-
Direct experience managing paid media campaigns (Meta, Google, programmatic, etc.)
-
Strong policy or political acumen (legislative, regulatory, or issue advocacy experience)
-
Proven ability to manage multiple clients and campaigns simultaneously
-
Demonstrated experience working on or alongside video production projects
-
Experience working with advocacy tech stacks (CRM platforms, email/SMS tools, advocacy software, etc.)
-
Exceptional project management and organizational discipline
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to simplify complex issues
What Sets You Apart
-
You operate with extreme ownership—you don’t wait to be told what to do
-
You are fast, responsive, and detail-oriented under pressure
-
You bring creative thinking to campaign strategy, not just execution
-
You are comfortable being client-facing and accountable for results
-
You are willing and able to travel when required for shoots, events, and client needs
-
You thrive in a high-performance, campaign-style environment where timelines shift and stakes are high
-
You proactively identify opportunities to improve campaigns, processes, or offerings
AI & Modern Workflow Expectations
-
You are proficient in using AI tools (i.e. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) to:
-
Accelerate research and synthesis
-
Improve writing and ideation
-
Increase output and efficiency
-
-
You understand that AI is a tool to enhance thinking, not replace it (we can tell when you use it!)
What This Role Is Not
To ensure alignment, this role is not a fit for candidates who:
-
Have only worked in PR, media relations, or organic social
-
Lack hands-on paid media experience
-
Prefer to act as an intermediary between teams instead of contributing directly to campaign execution across media, creative, and production
-
Are not comfortable with travel, long days on shoots, or campaign intensity
